Motive: Mirrors: Cain and Abel

Illustration by Whom? Doré? Or so I thought. But don’t find

painter’s name anywhere. This picture captivated me

as a teenager and does so yet.Raise Cain

Motive is Cain killing Abel.

You can see they’re brothers: look at their faces and hair.

It came before me that watching Abel’s face,

Cain is actually looking deeply into his own.

They look into each others faces as if in a Mirror.

This means Cain is not only killing Able; he is at the

same time killing himself, in a way. Or part of himself!

Any psychoanalytical theories about this?

Any more Mirror Motives in the Holy Scripture?
